Meet and Greet a Success!

Posted on

Our first Meet and Greet at The Garb Wench was a huge success! We had around 20 people in attendance from all walks of life. Pagans, Wiccans, druids, and open minded free thinkers came to discuss their knowledge and learn from others.

Jim and Cheryl graciously provided some tasty snacks like watermelon and pineapple, as well as coffee and soda! We were almost out of chairs by the time everyone had arrived. Jamie opened up the forum by introducing everyone to himself. He is a High Priest of the Wiccan religion with 20 years of experience. He has taught many Wiccans in the area and plans to teach more (Interested in a class? Check out the Classes).

Jamie made sure to introduce everyone to the rules of the forum. They are:

  1. Be polite, be courteous and Be Open Minded debate is encouraged, argument is not!
  2. Stay on point and On topic. Social time usually follows study time
  3. If the bell rings.. times up! everyone needs a chance to speak their mind
  4. In the event of an argument, remember the Three C’s: Congratulations, you’ve Conquered. Now SEE your way out.

Then Jamie gave us all a turn on the floor and we all introduced ourselves and what brought us to the forum. Some were the high priest of priestess of their own coven, others were just beginning to learn about Wicca. There were Christians in attendance as well as Agnostics. No 2 people seemed to have the same story. It was a great gathering! Unfortunately we did not get any pictures of the gathering but at the next one we certainly will.

The next discussion group is scheduled for July 21, 2012 at 7PM. It will be held at the Garb Wench in Ashley, which is right across the street from the Municipal Building and right next door to the Citizen’s bank. The main topic of conversation will be on the 13 Basic Principles of Witchcraft written by The American Council of Witches in the 1974. The council consisted of members from several different traditions. They are available on our website and you can do your own research on them as well.

We’re planning to start a Facebook group for this Gathering so please stay tuned!
